Important Dates
This contest is open to schools in Delhi and NCR.. They may enter teams in two age groups
Group A (Junior Level): for students of classes IX and X
Group B (Senior Level): for students of classes XI and XII

  • Each school can enter a maximum of four teams; upto two teams for Group A and upto two teams for Group B.
  • Team size: upto 5 students per team. One teacher of the school can act as guide (optional). The same guide can mentor more than one team of his/her school.
  • Each team must select one problem and submit only one solution.
  • Teams must be formed so as to ensure that they can work during the vacations. Group activity must be encouraged and the MSF will help clarify any doubts.
  • First prize: All expenses paid trip to ISRO and other leading Scientific and IT Institutions in Bangalore plus Books, Trophies and other gifts.
  • Other prizes: Telescopes, Books and Trophies.
  • Entry Fee: Rs. 200 per team payble by crossed cheque in favour of 'Mathematical Sciences Foundation'.
  • Last Date for submission of fee and applicaton form: JULY 5, 2006.

Submission of Solution  
1. The solution(paper) should be (click here for more details).

  • Be a well-written document (preferably typeset using a computer) describing the problem, the approaches used, and the solution(s) on a CD (if requires).
  • The first page should list the names, class, and School of each member of the team.
  • It should include any data generated/used by the team to reach their conclusions.
  • Describe what tools, if any, were used while arriving at the solution, including computer software or program, calculators, or information on the Internet.
  • Give references for ideas obtained from books or the Internet. The referencesshould be verifiable by the Jury. The Principal Mentor (Guide) should certify the originality of the work.

2. The participating teams are expected to work out the ideas required to solve the problems on their own. Any sign of copyright infringement from the Internet or other sources will mean immediate rejection by the Jury.

3. The problems posed in the competition can be approached in many ways. Even partial solutions are acceptable, if they have interesting insights.

 

Final Round
Selected teams in the final round will have to present their work to the Jury.

  • The presentation should go over the main points of the paper.
  • Each team will get 20 minutes for presentation.
  • The team will be quizzed by Jury members for 10 minutes.
  • Each member of the team can be asked questions regarding the submission.
  • Any computer program written by the team should be brought to the presentation.
  • Teams are advised to prepare the presentations at the time of submitting the paper.
