The aim of this competition is to encourage mathematical experimentation and discovery using Computers.
 
The Mathematical Sciences Foundation (MSF) and NIIT came together in a joint initiative to encourage school students to use computers for mathematical problem solving. Called "The Mathematical Challenge", the contest was open to students from Classes 9 to 12 from all schools in Delhi and NCR.

The contest was for two different categories. Students in Classes 9 and 10 could take part in the Level A (Group A) of the competition, while the students of Classes 11 and 12 could take part in the Level B (Group B) of the competition.

There was an overwhelming response to the contest. Almost 80 teams (comprising 4 to 5 students in each team) participated. Finally eight best teams in each group were been short listed to make presentation of their work. The finals of the competition was held at Delhi Public School, R K Puram July 10, 2006 for Group A (Classes IX & X) finalist and on July 11, 2006 for Group B (Classes XI & XII) finalist between 9 am to 4 pm.
