We are greatly saddened by the untimely passing away on June 25 2009 of Dr Anil Wilson, our founder Chairman. Dr Wilson was a distinguished academic and administrator, best known for the many years he served as Principal of St. Stephen's College, Delhi. It was he who first provided encouragement and space for the activities that eventually led to the founding of MSF.

Dr Wilson liked to recount stories of how poor he had been at mathematics, but the unstinting support he extended to mathematical activities ensure that he will always be considered an honorary mathematician. We shall particularly miss his self-deprecating and impish humour, which he applied even to his difficult struggle with pancreatic cancer.

It is hard indeed for us to accept that we can no longer turn to him for guidance and wisdom. Our deepest condolences go out to the bereaved family.
