SUMMER 2009 INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME

FOR COLLEGE AND SCHOOL STUDENTS

The Mathematical Sciences Foundation announces summer internships designed to stimulate creativity through ‘hands on’ applications of mathematics with the help of computing techniques. The internships shall encourage teamwork, communication and computational skills and out of the box thinking through real world applications.

Duration of the internships: June 1 to June 27, 2009.

The programme venue is Delhi Public School, R K Puram, New Delhi (DPS). Outstation participants will be provided accommodation in the DPS hostel.

Participation of the selected students is subject to the following Rules and Instructions.

Selected students:

  • Shall be taught computer programming and software packages along with mathematics

  • Shall be provided access to a computer laboratory

  • Shall be paid a total stipend of Rs. 5000/-

  • Shall be provided free board , lodging and rail fare if from outstation

  • Shall be mentored by experienced and well known faculty

  • Shall also work on projects in mathematics education

     

 

At the end of the internship, five students shall be selected for an all-expenses paid trip to scientific institutes in Bangalore such as the Indian Institute of Science and the Indian Space Research Organisation. The trip will take place in the winter break.
