Mathematical Finance

Jointly Certified by MSF and ICICI Bank Ltd.

Our pioneering programmes in Mathematical Finance provide a unique opportunity to learn about the exciting world of modern Finance and the role of Mathematics in it. They have been created in consultation with leading members of the academic and corporate worlds. Their special feature is the combining of conceptual understanding with practical ability.

A wide variety of students have benefited from these programmes --- ranging from undergraduates (in various disciplines, such as Economics, Commerce, Mathematics, Physics, etc.) to those pursuing professional courses or in employment.
Many of these students have gone on to successful Finance-related careers in both the academic and corporate worlds, in India and abroad. The programmes are also very useful for students planning careers in the Insurance sector and intending to take the actuarial exams.
The programmes build up from basic concepts to advanced Nobel Prize-winning work. You will acquire detailed knowledge of portfolio design, stock price models, financial derivatives, and risk analysis. Highlights of the programme are the Capital Asset Pricing Model, the Binomial Options Pricing Model and the Black-Scholes Model.
We assume little prior knowledge beyond high-school mathematics and include a thorough introduction to Statistics and its applications in Finance.

Currently, we run two versions of our programme --- one is fully face-to face, while the other is conducted online.

Summer internships at leading financial institutions will be arranged for qualifying students.   You will be provided with detailed written material and study instructions, as well as Excel spreadsheets for the computer work.

Face-to-face support will be provided via fortnightly sessions with MSF faculty.
Next session will start in July 2008
