A feast in store for maths lovers
IT Was a "calculated" effort all
right, but one that was aimed at looking beyond the numbers
game, Nice years after it was first launched by a group
of like-minded people, the Mathematical Science Foundation
(MSF) is now more than just a place for mathematics lovers.
A registered mathematics society, the MSF may have been
formed with the vision of creating the facilities of a
Harvard or MIT in India, but it has clearly come a long
way form the small society that it started out as at Delhi
University St. Stephen's College. Come November and the
MSF will once again be celebrating its annual event, "A
life of mathematics". A chance for mathematics lovers
from the Capital's colleges to come together

and brainstorm on the subject, this age,
Sir Michael Atiyah, make a presentation during the week-long
event that begins on November 7.
The MSF currently offers the masters of science programmes
of the University of Houston in Mathematics, Mathematical
Finance and Computational Mathematics and Programmes in
IT Simulations.
In the months to come, the MSF hoping to expand its activities,
Some of the programmes planned include a Bachelor Mathematics
with a minor in Economics, Finance, Physics, Computing
and Applications, an MS in Systems Engineering programme
From the University of Houston and a specialised capsule
course of schools, colleges and the corporate sector.
