With the class X and XII Central Board of Secondary Education
examinations just a month away, help for students through counselling
and course guidance is underway.

The Mathematical Sciences Foundation (whose institutional
members are St Stephen’s college and ICICI bank) today
announced the launch of a free helpline for students appearing
for the board examinations. |
The helpline will offer statistical analysis of previous papers
and the frequency of questions and topics. It will help students
take advice from eminent mathematicians and experienced teachers
to solve their problems. Counselling about the right food, nutrition,
exercise and sleep requirements with inputs from health and
medical professionals connected with PSRI hospital. Methodology
in tackling problems and tips to do well in examinations will
also be given. |

A pre-exam helpline service is also being provided by NGO
Snehi from today. The helpline will be available from February
1 to March 3. The counselling services are free and confidential
and students can call on 26521415 and 26521494 from 10 am to
7 pm. |
In the past six years, the helpline has averted more than
100 suicides. The service helps students deal with situational
stress — both psychological and physical. |
The NGO has a group of psychologists, psychiatrists, sociologists,
educationists, journalists, lawyers, career counsellors, trained
volunteers and professionals from others fields committed to
the cause. So far, the service has helped 28,591 students and
4,800 parents and relatives. |
