The Mathematical Sciences Foundation(MSF), located on the premises of St. Stephen’s College, offers one-year postgraduate programmes in Maths, Mathematical Finance and Computational Finance in association with the Universtiy of Houston(UH). The qualifications enable candidate to receive Fellowship for a graduate programme leading to a doctoral degree at UH.
According to an MSF spokesman, the Department of Mathematics at UH grants students full credit and exempts one year of their graduate studies programme. “Students who have passed the diploma exam with a certain prescribed number of credits at MSF, are assured of admission as well as Fellowship for the graduates studies programme at the University of Houston.”
The Texas-based, public university boasts of one of the most outstanding departments of Mathematics and some of the most distinguished faculty.

Talking about the advantage of the UH graduate programme, the official said, “Students have in Indian universities.”

Though MSF charges Rs.70,000 for each of the self-financing programmes, once students join UH, they receive about US $ 20,000 as a Fellowship amount each year. In addition, students are not charged any tuition fees, says the MSF spokesman. After completing their doctoral studies, candidate can find jobs in IT companies, banks, stock exchange like the NYSE, and airlines.
Incidentally, if the MSF official is to be believed, there are no postgraduate programmes in Mathematical Finance and Computational Mathematics available India.
